thyroid nodule

hi dr, i discovered my thyroid nodules in october 07 and it has grown about 2cm since then, scan showed i had a multinodular thyroid with a dominant nodule which was aspirated and found to be follicular cells so having the whole thing removed (report said very little thyroid tissue and no convincingly benign features) i also have enlarged lymph glands, grew quite rapidly, constant feeling of a lump in the throat. all blood tests nornmal except possitive for TPO antibodies. in your oppinion what are the chances this is malignant?

having it removed early june

Thankyou for your time!

Follicular cells are thyroid cells - so that alone does not need removal.  The symptoms and growth rate however make surgery appropriate.  If by "follicular cells" they meant "follicular lesion" then it's about a 20% chance cancer.  If not, then it is 5% - give or take...
