If your TSH is high then I would think your pituitary is saying that your T3 and T4 aren't high enough even though they are "normal" on your lab results. It sounds like you have the symptoms of being hypothyroid too...maybe an endocrinologist could nail it down for you...
Dreamboat,
Hi, as Janie Mack said, a high TSH when your on medication, means it needs increased. The recommended TSH range for thyroid patients on medication is between 1.0 and 2.0, so you are way above that! One good reference you can coonfirm this at is www.aace.com "American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists". This recommendation is on that website and many others. In fact some people (myself) feel better only when they get their TSH below 1.0 but you need repeat testing and close monitoring by a Dr. to make sure it doesn't get down to hyperthyroid levels. The new TSH range for people getting tested for thyroid disease, set by the AACE is 0.3 to 3.0. Most Dr.s don't know about this change and most labs haven't adjusted to it either.
