details of thyroid ultrasound report

the isthmus measures 0.6cm. the right lobe measures 5.0*1.4*2.0cm the left lobe measures 4.8*1.4*1.7 cm the thyroids echo texture is inhomogeneous with scarring with mild vascularity no well defined nods noted lateral to the left lobe there is a lymph node 2.5*0.5*0.7 cm  inferior to the lobe a lymph node is seen 1.
5*0.8*0.9 cm  this one which doc isn't doing anthing
Real time transverse and sagittal images of the thyroid were obtained.

Findings: The and the right lobe of the thyroid measures 6.5 x 2.1 x 1.8 cm and the left lobe 5.5 x 2.0 x 1.8 cm. No focal thyroid parenchymal lesions. There is generalized hyperemia throughout both lobes of the thyroid on color-flow Doppler. And there are two small hypo echoic nodular collections just caudal to the inferior lower pole of the left thyroid lobe the larger measuring up to 1.5 and 1.4 cm diameters respectively.

IMPRESSION:

Sure sounds like what's on the ultrasound report is what one would expect from Hashimoto's disease (immune system attacking the thyroid, causing thyroid hormone levels to fall).  Far as I know the usual treatment is simply to prescribe thyroid hormones.

Since you have no tumors and no goiter there isn't any more to do other than take meds.

inhomogeneous: Means not uniform. Normally thyroid tissue is smooth.
hyperemia: Increased/more than expected blood flow.
can be associated with thyroiditis: Possibly autoimmune thyroid disease.
No discrete thyroid lesions identified: Didn't find any tumors.

Why'd you have the ultrasound done?
