worried about goiter

I have recently been told I have a goiter. My doc is saying it's to small to mess with so to leave it alone for 3 months. Also all of my test results are coming back that I do not have a thyroid problem. I have gained over 30lbs in less than 2 months and majorly depressed. Can't handle any stress (normally I let everything roll off my back) and just want everyone to leave me alone. Have also had pins and needles through out my body and thryroid problems run in the family.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to do next?

I went to my primary yesterday and he told me that he got the results of my tests from my Endo (who is not very helpful). The test show that all of my TSH levels are normal and that he also did a test to check to see if my pituatary glands are working ok and they are also fine. So basically I am in a wait and see mode again but atleast my primary is trying to help and he said that even though all my tests show nothing now he still thinks that something was wrong to cause the goiter and we would have to run more tests.

Hi, I agree with Christine, it is impossible to diagnose someone with having a goiter and say that they do not have a thyroid problem, I have never heard such a thing.  A goiter is an enlarged thyroid, which in itself shows that you have a problem with your thyroid.  Get your anti-bodies test done to determine if maybe you have a thyroid auto immune disease.  That is a destruction of the thyroid, and is usually the cause of goiters and nodules, just as Christine has stated.  Often people with Hashimoto's have normal TSH's and are often told by doctors that they are fine, but we know how we feel,  the antibody test will put an end to this and you will feel better once you start treatment.  Shannon

A goiter is an enlarged thyroid. A nodule is a growth in or on the thyroid. So, I am confused about too small to mess with. Have they tested you for anti-bodies? If not this is a good place to start. Quite a few people have had normal blood work, but still tested high on the anti-bodies, which could be Hashimotos disease. This would explain a goiter or nodule.
