I was wondering your thoughts but know that "nobody really knows" for sure but wondered off the record ....

As you may recall from prior posts I am the one who has history of multiple stitch abscesses from partial thyroidectomy on 1/9.  They have finally healed.  Only to be replaced by a lump that rapidly grew and changed shape and composition within 10 very short days ..HOWEVER IT APPEARED out of the blue only 1 DAY POST OP on 1/10/07 as a small small sized pea.  In the beginning all thought it was an irritated lymph node, then a stitch abscess and then a sebaceous cyst and then finally my Dermatologist felt it was a LIPOMA and excised it a week ago .. it was very deep near the lining of the trachea and, thus, now we all know why it felt tight to swallow.

My Question w/Link to photo:

As I await biopsy results (my Dermatologist is concerned and said we just have to wait for the results) I have read online that this type of fatty tumor can grow rapidly after TRAUMA TO THE AREA ....... HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS happen in your practice or your colleagues?  This is unrelated I've been told to the thyroid surgery but seems VERY coincidental it appeared 1 day post op.

Today is Day 7 waiting for biopsy.  They said can take up to 10 days .. all I can do is wait.  The incision from the excision is healing nicely .. 4 internal and 5 external stitches but hurt worse thany thyroid due to its location ..

I have not seen this - thanks for the info, I will now know this if/when I see it in one of my post-op patients.
