Hi Doctor.
My name is Karen. I am hypothyroid and have been taking synthroid for 4 1/2 months. (TSH .99, Free T3 2.8, Free T4 1.29).I am feeling pretty good except for hair loss, bloating, etc. I also take Prozac 20 mg. My questions are:
1. Do you know if Prozac would affect thyroid levels? I do not take them together.
2. Do you think that I need an increase to 112 of Synthroid, or
maybe switch to decreased dose of Synthroid and add cytomel?
3. Or stay on 100 mcg and add a multivitamin and selenium and see how that goes.

Prozac is not known to alter thyroid levels (unlike Zoloft) -- probably ok to take together -- key is being consistent with the way you take the medications. Hard to advise on question #3 without evaluating you clinically. The TSH is fine on current dose.
