Athletics and T3

Dr. Mark,

I was on 125mcg daily with a TSH of 2 and still wasn't feeling great.  My dr has allowed me to add two days (tues, friday) of 137 mcg.  If I get my TSH below 1 and I'm still not feeling better and wish to add 5mcg of T3, do I first need to drop my dosage and wait for the my TSH to go back up a little or can I drop the dosage and start the T3 right away??  Also I'm an avid cyclist and was wondering if, during the peak of the season while training is at its peak, will I need to add to my T4 or T3 supplementation??  I usually do a week long ride in Colorado which consists of about 5 hours a day on the bike and I'm worried that by the end of the week my energy/strength will be shot.

I usually drop the T4 dose when I add T3 and not wait.  Most athletes do not need dose adjustments during competition - but I am not sure the research on this is conclusive -- I usually don't suggest any dose changes, but would like to see more research on this.

one more question,   On the 125 mcg I was at TSH of 2.1 and FT4 was 1.3  (high being 1.8).   Could I stay at that level (stop the 137)  and add 5mcg T3?
