Can't Lose Weight

by PB964, Aug 23, 2009 02:00PM
I have had hyperthyroidism for 8 years and I am on 7 1/2 mg. of methimazole.  For the past month and a half, I have tried to lose weight with regular 30 minutes of exercise, eating small nutriitional meals.  I started to lose weight (9 lbs.), but then all of a sudden I stopped losing.  No matter what I do, I cannot lose any weight.  Is it possible my thryoid does not need as much methimazole?  Any suggestions?

Would test thyroid function - if normal, then the thyroid is not impeding the weight loss.  If the TSH is high then the dose of methimazole may be too high and this could slow the weight loss efforts.
