Confusing Labs

by nicolesuzette, Mar 07, 2008 12:03PM
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism.  I am currently taking 50 mcg of Cytomel.  My last labs showed my TSH at .05, and my Free T4 at .34  -  I am to adjust my Cytomel to 25 mcg based on my TSH level.  These labs are confusing- any suggestions?

50mccg of cytomel is a lot and I don't usually use cytomel alone (ie would use along w/ synthroid or levoxyl).  The TSH is low so the dose needs a decrease, but going all the way to 25mcg is similar to decreasing synthroid from 200 to 100mcg.  Talk to your endocrinologist about your options.
