Cytomel bad headaches

by sandrita, Dec 21, 2005 12:00AM
Hi!
I was having Syntroid 100 mg and I had to stop in order to get ready for my radio iodine treatment. So, the doctor asked me to start Cytomel  25 mg right next day I stopped Sybntroid.
I have had migranes all my life. But I got the worst this week. It has been with me for 5 days in a row.
How many days is this going to last? I stopped Cytomel 2 days ago and I am still with horrible headaches.Pain killers don't work..
Thanks for your answer.

The cytomel is about out of your system by now (off 2 days) so not sure about the headache -- it may be related to the the low thyroid state -- thyroid level fluctuations can aggravate migraines. 25mcg of cytomel is equivalent to 100 of synthroid -- I usually ask patients to cut the 25mcg in half and take half in am and half mid-afternoon -- you may want to try that.  If the headahces persists - may need evaluation to make sure nothing else is going on.

Thanks alot for your answer.
My headaches are still with me. So, my Neurologist gave me DEPAKOTE 500 mg what I am taking also with Amitryptiline 75 mg.
I am sad because I did not want to start with strong medication  for my headaches .....I feel really bad.
During my first Radio Iodine treatment, I did not have this problem.....
If my problem is that I am  in a HYPO time, is this going to last until February? I have my second treatment in February!!!!
These headaches are killing me.....
