DIZZINESS

by Beckyry, Mar 11, 2006 12:00AM
Ok let me recap my previous post
I just got switched to synthroid 75mg
I was on Armour for 6 months
My test just came back and my TSH is 1.2 and my T3 is 183

My problem is I am unbelievably lightheaded.
I am a personal trainer, competitive triathlete and runner and I could not race my 25K race this morning because of being so dizzy and I had to walk a couple of times. Since starting the synthroid a week ago every time I try to run, 3-4X a week, I am dizzy for about the first 20 minutes of my run. This is unaccetpoable to me. The nurse was out of town, the doc is out of town.
I need help! I cannot live this way.

Not sure why you were switched, but sounds like it's not working for you despite the normal labs -- talk to your doc about changing back to armour and consider further eval for dizziness if it persists.

Well, it sure seems like your doc should have coverage for emergencies.  There must be a way of contacting him or her.  If not, I'd sure find someone else.

Is it just common sense to think the dose might not be right for you?

As for me, I have never tested other than within normal range, but have a euthyroid multinodular goiter, and nothing is done for that, whatsoever.  Today, as it sometimes does, it kicked up, and there was swelling and pulling in the area of the manubrial (?) notch.  It was very, very uncomfortable, and not knowing what else to do, I took a rather ancient, 5 mg Kelp tablet.  Perhaps the results were psychological, but I swear the swelling and pulling dissipated within an hour.  I'm not suggesting this to anyone.  There can be unfortunate side effects with the kelp.

Hope you get through to your physician.
