Dosage

Hi,

I have been hypothyroid since 10/2005. I started out on 50 mcg of levoxyl/day, was then increased to half of a 125 mcg pill per day, and am now on a FULL 150 mcg pill/day.  I just realized what a huge increase this is...Especially considering my TSH was at 4.9 when I was on the HALF of the 125 mcg pill.

Is there any reason he would have increased my dosage so much? TSH of 4.9 wouldnt have warranted such an increase, right?  I haven't been able to get ahold of the doctor. I've been on this dose for 2 months.

Thanks.

That seems like a big increase in most cases unless you had thyroid surgery or I-131 and the idea was to rapidly get you to a full replacement dose(which does not seem to be the case).

Would recommend getting a TSH test Monday and see where you are.

Are you having any "hyper" symptoms?  After two months, you should probably get retested anyway - to see where you're at.
