I recently had a total thyroidectomy b/c of suspected follicular cancer. Turned out
benignBenign ear cyst or tumor
Benign positional vertigo. I'm losing TONS of hair from my
headHead and face reconstruction
Head injury
Head lice
Indications of head injury
Radial head injury and even my eyelashes and eyebrows are falling out. Here's the history:
5/11 - Total Thyroidectomy; had low calcium
5/15 - Pathology
benignBenign ear cyst or tumor
Benign positional vertigo, started 100mcg
Levoxyl
5/26 - Washed hair and noticed more hair than usual on shower floor
5/30 - Called Endocrinologist - he says it's likely from trauma of surgery and definitely NOT from the
levoxyl.
6/4 - Had labs drawn:
TSHPituitary and tsh
Tsh - .8 (.4-4)
FT4 - 1.6 (.6-1.6)
6/11 - Follow up with surgeon - he says hairloss UNlikely a result of surgery
Calcium is at 8.5 now
6/17 - Today - counted 74 hairs on floor after brushing dry hair this morning; 10 eyelashes and 3 eyebrows.
My question is this: What do you suppose this hairloss is from and will it stop? Would adding a T3 drug help? Do you see a lot of folks with TT lose hair and is it ever permanent?
