Heredity

At the age of four I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Around that same time my mother, at age 39, was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism. A few years later she needed to have her thyroid removed. Recently, at the age of 38, my sister was diagnosed with Grave's disease (over-active). We all continued to be treated with mediation. My question is: My daughter is almost 3 and I was wondering the likelihood of her developing a thyroid condition. Is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening to her too?

Nothing known to prevent your daughter from having autoimmune thyroid disease which appears to run rampant in the family.  The most important thing will be test her thyroid if she has any symptoms (as pediatricians often do not test thyroid early).
