High antithyroidglobin

Our daughter's doctor told her that her antithyroidglobin levels were 29,000.  Is that possible?  That is not a typo.  Also, our daughter is 34 engaged to be married and would like to have children one day.  Will she be able to have children? Thanks for your help.

This is a high level, but the degree of elevation is not necessarily clinically important.  Would also look at TPO antibody.  If the Tg is this high and TPO negative, would certainly look at neck ultrasound b/c I would imagine there is a goiter/nodules (and there may be a need for FNA biopsy).  If the TPO and Tg antibodies are both high then it is more classic autoimmune thryoid (usually Hashimoto's) and a look at thyroid function is important.  Furthermore, there is a risk of infertility and miscarriage with positive antibodies -- a recent study suggested that even with normal TSH, the risk of miscarriage increases w/ positive antibodies -- but showed that even in these cases treatment w/ levothyroxine decreases this risk.  So -- most in this situation will be able to have children w/ proper monitoring/management of the thyroid condition.
