Hi.. I have elevated thyroid antibodies..900 I have been breaking out with hives since Oct 08 I was on levoxyl since 2000 Dr changed me to armour in Feb 08 to see if that would help the antibodies. My tsh is 2.1 not sure about the other ranges T3/T4 What will the antibodies do to me other than the hives? Is there anything that can be done short of taking cortizone therapy. I am very active work out at curves 3x wkly.  Also i am in better shape I lost about 8 lbs after joining curves, Could the change in weight have brought on the antibodies, I lost it slowly.. Thks for any suggestions grandee 276

It is unclear if the hives are due to autoimmune thyroid disease -- but many experts feel there is a connection.  In these cases we keep the TSH sometimes in the lower target range (ie 0.5-1.0) which sometimes helps.  This can be done with any type of thyroid medication.

I don't know about losing weight and hives, but I have had hives for the past 6 weeks.  I justgot a thyroid test and have antibodies TPOab=381, TSH 7.4.

My free t4 is normal, so I have subclinical hashimotos.  The only symptom I have is these hives and red rash and I really want to get rid of them.

Sorry you are suffering.  Does anyone else know anything about hives and antibodies?
