How did my TSH go from 3 to 66 in 3 months?

I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 6 months ago. I have not had a period for over a year and my husband and I have been trying to get pregnant. I have seen a fertility doctor and was supposed to start Clomid next month. I have been watching my thyroid levels every 3 months. In January 08 my TSH was a 3.00 and today I got my blood work done. My endocrinologist called and he said that my TSH is 66. How could it have went up that much, that fast? I was not taking any meds. Today he started me on Levothyroxine and am taking 100 MCG. I feel incredibly tired and short of breath, having bad nights sweats and such. My weight is still normal at 125. Any advice would help. I obviously have had to put the fertility on hold until my thyroid is under control. I was just wondering if 66 is dangerously high because he sounded very concerned about it?

It's a little unusual to go that low that quickly - but it seems to be due to Hashi.  Would have considered levothyroxine w/ TSH of 3.0 w/ antibodies and trying to conceive.  Anyway,  TSH of 66 suggests severe hypothyroidism and treatment is indicated.  100mcg is a good start.  It should level out in 6-12 weeks, then resume fertility issues.  Recheck TSH in 5-6 weeks.
