How do these labs look? Tsh OK?

by Suett, Jul 17, 2007 12:00AM
Hi ,

I am a 52 year in perimenapause. I curently take Thyolar (T3 9.4 mcg and T4 37.5).

Test results:

Total T3  145 range 70-200
Free T4    1.4  range 0.8-1.7
TSH      0.10  range 0.2 -5.5

Are these number safe . . I feel great and lots of energy
I also have Lyme and Babaesia, Mycplama etc. Cortisol levels are very low normal.

2 more questions, please:

Can hyperthyroidism raise DHEA(not DHEA-S), Estrodial, and Total testosterone . .  my levels are very high normal and FSH is only 5.

Can hyperthythroidism affect antibody levels to currect infection(ie. body working harder so increases antibodies)?

you may want to repeat the testosterone as a free-testosterone to make sure there is no elevation in binding globulins that causes the total to increase.  I have not found that measuring DHEA (not DHEA-s) is clinically useful, but I don't specialize in these hormone measurements.   I don't think hyper is inter-acting with the infection/immune system in this case.  Your TSH is a little low, so there is an increase risk of osteoporosis and heart rhythm problems.

To: Doctor, please
I made a mistake my TSH was .010 not .10.

and  I did have a Free Testosterone done at the same time and it was
2.1  .....range .1 - 6.4.

Testosteone to free/Testosterone was 0.61  range 0.6-2.6%

Sorry I did not post it last time.

Please comment and many many thanks,
Sue
