Hello,
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's (my antibodies were very low but it was still considered Hashimoto's) in March 2006 and am on 75mcg
levothyroxineLevothyroxine
Levothyroxine sodium, to be upped soon as I'm still symptomatic. My
TSHPituitary and tsh
Tsh is 1.4.
Two questions:
1) I experience hot flushes/feeling of overheating and
sweatingSweating
Sweating - absent on even
gentleGentle laxative exertion (eg walking) but am not overweight. I have read that
temperatureTemperature measurement controlControl
Control rx can go either way (too hot or too cold) with both hypo and hyper even though feeling cold is the unsual hypo problem. Is that correct?
2) I have a new concern. My endo tested for calcium the other day (results not yet back) and I thought nothing of it. At the same time, elsewhere, I had a hair analysis test done for nutritional analysis. It showed high calcium (normal = 400mg/kg, I was 675). I realise hair samples are a)controversial and b) not necessarily related to levels in the rest of the body. However, I am now concerned that I might have hyperparathyroidism. Is this likely? I've read that it can be initially masked by Hashimoto's and my Hashimoto's was a long, drawn-out, almost reluctant diagnosis.
(My symptoms are fatigue, hot flashes, muscle weakness (causing practical exercise intolerance), constipation, dry hair, nausea)
Many thanks,
VictoriaT
