Hyperthyroid and pregnant

by caiieosb, Dec 13, 2007 10:05AM
Hi- I am 13 weeks pregnant and have been having racing heart, palpitations, heart pounding, so a TSH was performed. The level came back 0.02. I have not had any history of Graves Disease or hyperthyroidism in the past, They have not tested my T4 or T3 yet. Wandering if this will resolve itself after being pregnant , will my baby be okay- I have had 3 daughters in the past and my babies weights have went down each pregnancy 1)-8.5lbs, 2)-6.14 lbs, 3)-5.11lbs. I have had my TSH tested when i am not pregnant and it was like 1.3. what is wrong with me?

This may be a low TSH associated with early pregnancy.  If the T4 and T3 are not elevated, the first choice is usually observation and the TSH will begin to rise in the second trimester most likely.  Research shows that a normal TSH in pregnancy can be about this low.  The racing heart may be aggravated by relative high thyroid levels in this setting, but may be the pregnancy itself.
