Hypo/Hashi with mild tingling in feet

I was diagnosed with hashi/hypo 3 months. I have mild tingling in my feet sometimes. My B12 is not low. Someone recently mentioned this might be a symptom of pre-diabetes. Should I be concerned about developing diabetes? No family history of diabetes. My Glucose is 96 (still in normal range), my B12 is high: 1253 (due to vitamin intake which I've stopped), My calcium is 10.3 (still normal); my Rheumatoid 5.7 (normal). After 2 months on 50 synthroid my TSH is down to 5.3. Could tingling feet be from hypo thyroid? Or might I be heading for diabetes? Or something else? MD just increased synthroid to 75.

It may be the thyroid -- see what happens with the increase -- the other tests are normal with regard to other common causes.  If still persisting, see a neurologist.

Tingling in feet and arm in thyroid called "Thyroid Neuropathy".I do suffering  Hypothyroid for last one year because of Hashi , initially i have tingling plus numbess lot not it get better but still there. This is because of thyroid don't worry when your TSH drop down to in a range 1.0-1.5 you will feel good.
Do you have Numbness also ?.

Hi Rohot_786, I really appreciate your post!! I've been wondering what (or what else)is wrong with me, due to the tingling in my feet! I do have some numbness, but only in my hands and only in the morning. Also, sometimes both of my hands fall asleep while I'm asleep in bed. I was told the hand symptoms as possibily carpal tunnel due to hypothyroid. Someone recently suggested tingling feet might be pre-diabetes, but my glucose is normal, and no one in my family has diabetes. My weight is close to normal. I've been hoping the tingling feet was due to thyroid and high tsh (5.3).  Thank you for posting! Good luck with your health!! We all need it!

I am also in same boot like you , worried about tingling and numbness in my hands and feet. I have been told my doctor it is because of thyroid and i do notice when my TSH is in the range of 1.0  my tingling way off . Check this link which is from one of the forum

Thank you, that is a very interesting link!!! I really appreciate your posts. Its seems like many others with hypo/hashi also have tingling and numbness due to high tsh and thyroid!!! My endo MD has told me to wait until my tsh is lower before I consult with a neurologist, but is VERY easy to worry when one has symptoms that seem neurological!! It's a relief to know that other hypo/hashi suffers have the same "strange"symptoms like tingling and numbness. The tingling in my feet was the first symptom that I developed when I became hypo, so maybe it will be the last to leave.  Thank you again for sharing this information!!!!

I too notice tingling in my feet when i was started to have Hypo symptoms . I still have those symptoms waiting for TSH test in 15 days to see where i am and how much i am off. Thank you again. I'll save your email address! I'll let know if my tingling stops and what the specifics are when/IF that happens. Also, I'll being watching this board/forum. It's very helpful and informative, sometimes even more so than my MD!!! My synthroid was just increased to 75, so my next blood test is in September. It's long, slow journey! Good luck to you! Wow, I was excited to read all your comments! I've had hypothyroidism for the last 5 years which has recently flipped to hyperthyroidism. A few months prior, I began having similar symptoms as you guys- tingling, numbness especially in my face and leg. As well, I have had a great deal of difficulty swallowing although my endo says my thyroid is not enlarged even slightly.  He has been changing my thyroid medicine and has nearly got my levels to normal, however, the problems persist. I have seen several neurologists and almost all tests came back normal expect my SPECT scan which showed an abnormal blood flow to my brain.

I would be very interested in hearing how everyone has dealt with these problems and what if anything your doctors are suggesting/doing to help. Thank you all for sharing- its great to know that I'm not the only one!

Hi Mel38, Any info about the experiences of others is very useful! I'll definitely post a follow up about the tingling feet issue. Other than thyroid antibodies and high tsh, my blood tests appear normal. I've seen an orthopedist and did back films which were also normal,so it's not back/disc related. I haven't seen an neurologist yet. Most MDs say wait until tsh down to back to normal. The tingling feet was the first symptom that I developed, so maybe it will be the last symptom to resolve. By the way, I also used to have a bit of mild tingling in my back and shoulders at night but that seems to have stopped! I still have other more comon hypo symptoms, so I'm obviously, not well yet. I just started 75 mcg, so time and patience...lots of patience. Good luck!

Do you guys also suffer muscles tension/cramp/pain in the list of hypo symptoms ?. I have been struggling with muscles cramp/tension and pain , it is that much worst that i feel pain if i hold something in my hand for more than 1 min even if i do shave in the morning i started to feel pain before my shave get complete.

Any of you guys also face this kind of symptoms

I won't list muscle pain as one of my symptoms, though occasionally in the morning my biceps and calf muscles have felt like something had squeezed them during the night (a little sore), but this feeeling passes quickly. My tingling feet can last all day,but the numbness in my  hands is mostly in the mornings. -- Another symptom I have at night while in bed is heart palpitations. My tsh is still too high so that may be the cause. I don't want to frighten you but have you seen a neurologist or been tested for possible MS?

I`ve high thyroid antibodies and 2 nodules and my firsts strange symptoms were tingling, numbness, and muscle twitching.  I was very scare, but, after 10 years of specialists, tests, and labs, one excellent endo told me it was my thyroid.  I`m still experimenting those and other symptoms after a year of treatment, but I know I`m not in the right dosage.

Thanks, Aidza, for posting that info!!!  All info and personal experiences are very helpful and much appreciated!!  Besides tingling feet, I also used to have mild tingling in my body, mostly my back, shoulders and chest, but that seems to have stopped (for the most part) since my tsh went down to 5.3 (which is still too high). However,  my feet are still tingling! Tingling can be a worrisome symptom because of it's neurological nature. My tsh is still too high, so I'm still waiting. Thank you again for your response.
