Hypothyroid

by AllyMcbeal, Sep 18, 2005 12:00AM
I am 27 female Chinese, with diagnosis of hypothyorid for 3 years, on medcation, condition stable, believed it's Hashimoto's.
I has blistering rash caused by intensive sun exposure on my thigh for a few episode after I got hypothyroid.  I am wondering whether I need to see a doctor, though many ER doctors saw the rash and said they have not heard that sun exposure casued rashes.  The rashes usually appear 24 hours after my exposure to sun (they are only on thigh, if they are not getting better, they spread to my abdominal area, it ususally takes a week time to get subsided with anti-histamin or sub-dural adrenaline.).
I wanted to know whether there are ppl who have hypothyroid share the same experience?

Sometimes Hashimoto patients get rash and itching -- sun-exposure may contribute but it is often difficult to link to thyroid for certain.  Would see a dermatologist about the rash.

some drugs you can't take and be too long in the sun......if you are taking any.......you can get a rash  like if you take ST. johns wort  .. they will take some skin and look at under a microscope..your skin will tell them if you have a bacterial infection or viral......go to a doctor
