Im new to this. These are my lab results. My endo said she never seen results like this before. How long do you think it should take for the synthroid to kick in so i can schedule surgery to remove the goiter? Have you ever seen results like this?
Anti-Thyroid Antibodies Thyroid Perioxidase - 10139 (result)
Antithyroglobulin Ab - 245071 (result)
TSH - 273.236
Thyroxine (t4) 0.6 (result)
Triiodothyronine (t3) 32 (result)

My endo told me that she does not know how i am functioning. Please let me know what you think about these labs. They are correct. How long do you think it will take so I can have the surgery. I go for the sonogram today and have to schedule an appt with the surgeon. My endo said that no surgeon will touch me with labs like this until they are regulated.

I have seen results like this.  What is the indication for surgery?  I would treat with synthroid to get the TSH normal (around 1.0) and likely the goiter will shrink.  If surgery is unavoidable, however, I would wait until the thyroid labs are normal if possible.  However, there is a good chance that the thyroid will shrink considerably with proper treatment.  It may take 2-4 months to see such a decrease in size, but you should start feeling better within 2-3 weeks.  If you are otherwise young and healthy your dose should be 100-125mcg/day.

my daughter who is 19 years old received blood results.
TSH are .55
T4 total are 5.7
T4free 1.0
The doctor told us the reference range is .70-6.40 for TSH
Upon further review I seem to find the normal range to be
.40-5.0 for TSH
The doctor wants her to see a specialist.
WHAT DO YOU SUGEST WE DO?
Thank you,
KEVIN

ANY COMMENTS????

It`s hard to make suggestions if we don`t know your daughters symptoms and whether she is on any medications right now.  The current TSH range is .3 to 3.  However you can have that .3 reading and still be hypothyroid.  The tests needed are Free T3  and Free T4 and both of these tests should be done at the same time.  TSH has a lot of problems and variables.  Myself I prefer the natural dessicated thyroid Armour rather than any of the synthetics. Good Luck.

She feels fine. I am confused about her .55 ths #
The reference range from this lab of .70-6.4  seems to be higher
then the normal ranges of .3-3.0
She is not on any other meds. .55 falls within the normal range??? The Dr. said it is hyper not hypo.
Thany You
