Lump in throat and pregnant

by ciera13, Aug 20, 2005 12:00AM
Hello all. I'm new. I have a lump in my throat that the nurse practitioner diagnosed as a goiter. I go Tuesday for my thyroid panel results. I am 10 weeks pregnant and worried about the results. Has anyone else been through this? If so, what treatments do they do and what are considered safe during pregnany? I noticed the goiter in Jan but have been putting off going to the doctor. I am a nurse and one of the worst patients. *smile* Any replies would be helpful. Thank you for your time. Oh, I was reading the previous posts and I have fibromyalgia - diagnosed at 16, now 27.

Hello. Congratulations on being pregnant! One of my friends was on medication the whole of her pregnancy for Grave's disease. She had extra ultrasounds and her baby boy is totally fine. She had already been on meds before she fell pregnant and had the right levels and all that figured out.
Good luck!

worse case you can do nothing if its a goiter.. do the tests but surgury can be put off until after birth...

my wife is also a nurse and pregnant but i have the thyroid problems.... what a good husband i am..... tell your husband he has to deal with the lump you can only deal with one growth at a time!!!!

Hi! I also discovered my goiter while I was pregnant with my daughter. They did a thyroid panel and said that it might be slightly on the hypo side but because I was pregnant that it was hard to tell, Not real sure why? but they put me on meds just in case I had a healthy beautiful little girl 8lb 13oz she is five now and smart as can be. So dont worry yourself to much just make sure you keep on top of it after your baby is born.             take care!
