Hi there! I had a few questions I needed help with.

I have Hash's but TSH is under 5 and all levels are in the "normal range".  Last TSH was 2.9.  I feel the symptoms though and feel pretty ruff most of the time. I was started in 25 mcg of Synthroid and have been on it for almost 2 weeks.

1) I feel better.....is it too soon, is this a placebo effect.
2) Will taking this dose mess up the function of my thyroid anymore (i.e. make it more dependant---and if I go off later, make things worse)?
3)  I have extreme bloating and stomach distension.  This has never been a issue before.......I am not one that has ever gained weight or been bloated since dx.  I have read that this happens sometimes---is this true?

Thanks!

1 - not necessarily - may be a treatment effect
2 - no, it will not alter your own thyroid's status
3 - not common, but possible with thyroid problems (particularly untreated hypothyroidism)

Thank you!!

Since I posted there has been one more thing. The last two nights I have been having insomnia..........wide awake cannot go to sleep until wee hours of the night. This is the only other problem I have. Reminds me of my hyper stages but do not feel other symptoms. I have this periodically when I am swinging between hyper and hypo.  Will this go away or does this suggest I am going towards hyper with the introduction of meds?

Thanks!

see how it goes - retest levels after 5-6 weeks on meds and discuss w/ your doctor.
