Microsomal tanned cell, positive titre

by sweaty_d, Aug 22, 2006 12:00AM
Twelve years ago as a child of fifteen, I had some Thyroid Antibody Tests done at a London clinic. At the time it was in order to try and find a reason for my Hyperhidrosis (which continues). I am now going to see my new GP (in relation to numerous blood spots that have appeared beneath my skin) and I wanted to mention these results.

Looking back through them, two tests which came back positive were: Microsomal Tanned Cell (Titre 1:400) and Thyroid Microsomes (just indicated +).

I was hoping you might be able to explain to me the relevance of these specific results.

Thanks,

DS

These are positive thyroid antibodies, most often indicative of Hashimotos Thyroiditis.  It means the immune system is attacking the thyroid.  Your other symptoms sound like purpura -- this can be auto-immune as well and a hematology evaluation will likely be recommended.
