Parathyroid horomone level?

I have been told several different things by several different doctors about what a "normal" parathyroid response is.  I got my parathyroid, thyroid, and calcium levels tested recently.  My thyroid is fine, but my parathyroid level was so low it was untraceable.  Now, at the time, my calcium was normal-high 10.5.  I have gotten other calcium tests over the last few months and they fluctuate, but are always within normal range.  
My question is: I know that your parathyroid responds/drops when your calcium level gets too high.  But, with that being said, should it ever be so low that it is untraceable?

These are cases of Non-Parathyroid HyperCalcemia -- as you may have found in your own internet research, the most common cause of this is malignancy.  That does not mean you have cancer, but that cancer needs to be considered.  Usually the calcium in these cases are higher than the ones that Sandin and ADDDR are reporting, but thorough evaluation, esp given the symptoms listed by each of these individuals, needs to be performed.

Would also test for vitamin D problems.

Wow- we have alot of the same test results- I have had bone scans MRI's for a lump under my right clavicle- Dr's just say odd when these test came back normal.
Do you have severe fatigue, chills, cold hands, depression?? to name a few?
My parathyroid test came back 11.9-low
thyrid seems normal
Calcium 10.4- high normal
are you seeing a RA?

I do have severe fatigue, stomach problems, nausea, hot sweats, dizziness, headaches, skin problems, goiter, kidney stones, swollen tounge, and abnormally high blood pressure. (150/100)- this is sudden onset and I am in my 20's.  My parathyroid is <3, too small for the lab to trace.  My thyroid is normal, and basic metabolic panel is normal.  I do have traces of blood, protein, and large amounts of creatinine in my urine.  I have a nephrologist, endocrinologist, dermatologist, and a PCP.  Awaiting appointments from new docs because my current ones don't seem to know or have any haste with my case.  Very frustrated....just waiting.

I feel your frustration. I hope they find a cause soon so that your quality of life will be better. Please let me know if they find your causes. Lord, that is critical low with the PHT- Yes, the Dr's like to try and wait things out to see if your numbers stablize on their own.
