no uptake is consistent with thyroiditis -- ie, the thyroid was too inflamed to be interested in taking up iodine to make more thyroid hormone. You are more likely to have recurrent thyroiditis. There is a recent study suggesting that antibody positive pregnant women who take selenium 200mcg/day have less chance of getting post-partum thyroiditis - but this needs to be confirmed in larger studies before a universal recommendation can be made.
With another pregnancy desired in a year, if you develop HYPO -- may be best to be on levothyroxine (ie synthroid or levoxyl) to keep levels stable throughout future pregnancies, then try to come off after finishing with reproduction.
