Hi Doctor,

Thank you for your time.  I was wondering if you have ever heard of a patient requiring less Synthroid after optimizing their ferritin levels to >70.  I think that this might be happening to me and I was just wondering if increasing the ferritin could affect the TSH.  Thank you.

Have not heard of this.

Iron supplements can interfere with absorption of synthroid, so take the synthroid in early am and iron at lunch and/or dinner.

Great question Karen - I am wondering too... It will be interesting to see Dr's answer.

I too am ferritin deficient and building and I have run across something stating that once Ferritin is raised conversion of T-4 is improved.

Unfortunately for me it is taking a very long time to get to >70 so I cannot confirm this.

Looking forward to the Dr's comments.
