Synthroid Titrating

by Craniac3, Sep 17, 2007 09:30AM
I was diagnosed hypo/Hashi's in April 2007. My TSH at that time was 129.5. I was prescribed 75 mcg Synthroid, which dropped my TSH down to 4.75. At that time I was upped to 100 mcg, which made me hyper. Then dropped down to 88 mcg. My TSH is now reading about .57 which is in range, but I feel I am displaying symptoms of hyper still (multiple daily bms, fatigue).

Since 75 mcg seems not enough and 88 mcg too much, is there any harm in alternating between the 2 dosages every other day? Or is there another alternative?

Some people need the "in-between" dose -- while a TSH of 0.57 is great for many people, for you it may reflect too much medication as suggested by your symptoms.  So alternating 75 with 88 or taking 6.5 tablets/week of the 88mcg dose are the ways we usually approach this situation.
