Synthroid hashimotos

by LANEW, Jul 08, 2007 12:00AM
I was diagnosed with hashimoto's 6 years ago when I passed out and went to ER with TSH at 10. Through careful synthroid adjustments(I also have mitral valve prolaspe) over the years I am now at 112mcg.My antibodies are always off the charts(over 100) and my endocronolgist recommended taking extra selenium each day. My TSH run 1-2. In the past several weeks I have been having severe palpitations, fluttering, and stomach upsets(I also have IBS but this is out of norm)and have gone through a bottle of pepto in less than 2 weeks. I pinpointed that after I take synthroid it onsets after several hours...Could it be after all these years that its too much? I also have been experiencing sugar issues, an hour after I eat a meal my heart starts beating fast, sweating and shaking. Could this be tied in or seperate issue? Thank you for your input.

This may be too much synthroid.   Also, if symptoms worsen consider checking for adrenal insufficiency -- not likely, but an important thing to test for if you are feeling this poorly and have hashi.  Palpitations after sugar/carbs happens to some people -- it's not likely dangerous, but can be annoying.
