TSG T3 T4 and Pregnancy

by Tarheeljoe, Jan 19, 2006 12:00AM
Thanks for taking my question.  My wife has been Hypo for about 4 years.  1/2 of her thyroid was removed dur to benign tumour. She has been on synthroid for the past 3 1/2 years.  She currently takes .88 of sythroid per day.  She started going to an Endo Dr. last Apr and he has slowly increased her meds.  The change has been very good.  Her hair loss has stopped, her energy levels have increase a great deal and she has lost about 35 lbs.  All in all she has been pleased. Her question as well as mine concerns pregnanacy.  Without taking any more of your time her her test last week show a TSH of 1.29 and a free T4 of 1.4   Are these levels good? What would be the expected levels of TSH, Free T3 and T4 to increase her chances of becoming pregnant?

These levels are good - keep the TSH from 0.5-2.0 will be best in hopes of pregnancy - sounds like from a thyroid standpoint she is on the right track.

PS - Go Duke!

I can give you referance ranges for the TSH Levels for pregnancy patients.
First Trimester/   0.30-4.50 mIU/L
Second Trimester/  0.50-4.60 mIU/L
Third Triiimenter/ 0.80- 5.20mIU/L

I hope this helps.
