TSH during pregnancy

by MBF1234, Feb 12, 2007 12:00AM
Hi Dr- my fna came back benign-- hashimotos. yeah! I also got a copy of my bloodwork and TSH was .52  - it was 1.7 in December. Basically, once I got pregnant it started going towards HYPER-- down to .57 so my endo had me start skipping a day of Synthroid. I take 75mcg 6 days a week. Once I did that it was 1.7, and then 4-5 weeks later it was back down to .52 that I mentioned above.

Is this ok during pregnancy or too low? I am 18 weeks pregnant. I am debating between the 2 endos which is why I am posting. My first one was good but didn't take my insurance. So i went to new one who I am not thrilled with (who did this latest bloodwork and said it was normal) and she is also the one who felt the nodule. If it matters my free t4 was 1.04 and antibodies were positive. thanks!

The TSH is fine -- actually there is more danger in running a little low than running a little high.  Would closely monitor the levels every 5-6 weeks during pregnancy - the antibodies and the FNA seem to confirm hashimotos as the cause of the low thyroid.

Hi
do you know what your antibody titer is? I am glad I read your post cause I wanted to know it's actually possible to get pregnant with thyroid antibodies(I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks and I am positive for the Ab).
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

I had a baby 6 months ago, have been feeling quite sluggish all of a sudden, decreased milk supply, hair loss, fingernails breaking, memory loss and a LOT of chest pain.  Went to doc, they ran TSH blood test.
Results:  TSH 98.582 and Antithyroid globulin 61.  They referred me to an Endo who redid the test and got a TSH of 88.9.  He put me on 75 micros of Synthroid and said I had Hashimoto's disease.  This was 6 days ago.  I have lost 10 lbs in the last three days and have SUPER energy and tons of milk for baby.  No palpitations, chest pain still there, no excessive sweating.  Could my body just be trying to correct itself?  My endo said to just wait 4 weeks before having labs done.  I'm afraid of sending my body the other way. What do I do?
