Test Results for Hypothyroidism

by jasrkl7, May 25, 2009 12:23PM
I recently had my Thyroid tested and the results are:

TSH 1.552
Thyroxine T4 5.7
T3 Uptake 33
Free Thyroxine Index 1.9

The doctor who did the test diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism. I went to a specialist and they said I don't have a thyroid problem. that it is normal. Can someone help me explain the results.

Your labs look normal.  Would repeat as free T4 as the Thyroxine ("total T4") is slightly low, but not likely clinically significant.

Thank you for the reply. I got re-tested and the free T4 is .09. The doctor now thinks I have a pituitary problem as my IGH-1 test was really low <70. Does that diagnosis seem correct?
