Thyroid High - Correct Dosage

by ftccontact, Jul 23, 2007 12:00AM
Dx with Hashimoto's 1979. TSH tested twice yearly. Last reading on 7/07 TSH .02. Previously, TSH .29 on 3/07; .33 on 8/06; .01 on 2/05; .02 on 3/05 . Currently taking .15 Levothyroxin (levothyroxine).
Please recommend correct dosage. When should I re-test?
Thank you.

The TSH seems quite low on 3 of the 5 tests listed, but reasonable in 3/07 and 8/06 -- if you are taking generic then it is possible that the some of the refills are from a different manufacturer (ie sandoz vs mylan, etc) resulting in a different outcome.  Based on the most recent TSH, the dose should be lowered -- talk to your doc about the precise dosing, but would consider 0.137mg and ensure consistency with a branded levothyroxine product.
