Thyroid Test Levels

by Reis, Jun 15, 2007 12:00AM
I am a 56 year old women, post menopausal 11 years, my T4 tested on 4/27/07 is 4.82 and the TSH is 1.86.  My Dr. is saying this is normal although I told him I have some of the symptoms, dry brittle hair, ridges in nails, insomnia, leg cramps at nights, night sweats.  He told me he would retest me sometime in July if I really feel the need.  Are these levels normal or does he need to relook at my lab work?  Thanks

Depends on the T4 range for that lab regarding the T4 of 4.82 - but the TSH is normal.  retesting is reasonable next month.

I have Hashimotos (nodule is shrinking).  Been treating over a year and can't get TSH under control.  TSH increased 1800% to 8.9 (@125mcg) from .466 (@150mcg).

My Free T4 levels have been increasing to the point where when my TSH is 8.9 (clearly Hypo) my FT4 is shoiwng 2.63 on a range of .89 to 1.76 so showing Hyperthyroid.  Can you explain what is going on?

I just got my thyroid test results faxed to me and I don't understand what a T4 Uptake is - it's at 1.11 or what a FTI is - it's at 7.8

My T3 is 119 and my T4 is 8.7 - but what is T4 uptake and FTI?????

Thanks!
