Very high Thyrog. Antibodies

by raxalpe, Jun 29, 2009 01:19PM
Hi. I am a female of 43. I have a goitor, a nodule on my thyroid, 1820.0 thryog. antibodies (normal range from 0.0 to 40.0)  with normal TSH and Free T3. Had cataracts removed in my early 30's, have joint pain and am presently losing weight (loss of appetite). I feel edgy and do not feel like myself. I had been taking Ovral for over 10 years and was told to stop in January. Have not been feeling well ever since. Am tired of going from one doctor to the next and not getting clear answers. What do you think?

The normal TSH and T3 suggest the thyroid hormone levels are appropriate and not the cause of the symptoms.  High Tg-antibodies can be seen with nodular thyroid glands - watching the TSH is important to make sure the thyroid function remains normal.  FNA biopsy of the nodule should be considered if it is larger than 1-1.5cm.  Thyroid medications are not likely indicated in this setting.  Would talk to your doctor about altenatives to (or resuming) Ovral if stopping this led to the symtpom onset.
