anxiety

I have had anxiety most of my life.   Just recently my doctor tested my tsh and the first time it came out at 6.94 2nd time at 4.55.   If I start a antidepressant will I still respond to it with a tsh of 6.94 or 4.55?   With a tsh of 6.94 can that cause me to have anxiety or depression?  Should I go see a endo?

I would treat the thyroid first before considering an antidepressant.  You have borderline hypothyroid and in many patients thyroid hormone may be all you need.  If you are considering hurting yourself or others then more aggressive treatment for depression is also indicated.

Matt-
YES!  A good one...but that's a challenge.  If you can, go to the website, 'Stop the thyroid madness.com', it has a big section on anxiety/depression, and how the thyroid can create these symptoms.  It has many articles under one of the headings on the side, but I can't remember specifically which one.  The point is that sometimes (often) anxiety and depression can be treated w/just making your chemistry right w/proper diagnosis/dosing of thyroid meds.  Please begin the process of educating yourself, it's critical you understand this condition!  good luck to you.
