complex cysts

by shadi74, Mar 08, 2008 12:51PM
I have complex cysts in my thyroid gland, the ultrasound showed that there are no inflammation in my lymph nodes in the neck , and the first biopsy showed that the sample was not adequate.
my doctor refer to me to do another biopsy but I didn't because I read that if there is a probability to be cancer then the biopsy can accelerate the spread of cancer.
what do you advice me ?

thanks

needle biopsy has not been shown to spread cancer.  You need another biopsy to ensure this is benign.  It should be done under ultrasound guidance by someone who does this frequently and even better if they can look at the slides while you are still there to make sure the sample is adequate.
