Can I take over the counter diet supplements if I am on Synthroid?  If not what can I do to lose weight before I lose my mind?  I am on 225 mcg of Synthroid.  I was diagnosed this past March with Follicular and Papillary Cancers.  I had my thyroid removed and underwent I131 treatment.  I am so much overweight now that my body is started to take the effects of it.  I have tried numerouse weight loss and exercise programs and can not seem to lose a pound.  I am 5'1" and 180 lbs.  HELP!!!!

You can take OTC supplements -- watch the heart rate and blood pressure -- these are not likely to help long-term with weight--- keeping calorie balance negative is the key to long-term success -- it takes a long time to lose weight (a pound  a month is fine).
