fatigue, sed rate

I'm a woman in my late 50's and  have suffered from fatigue, sleeping 10-12 hrs a day, shortness of breath on exertion for several years... Dr. did SED rate and it is 60. All other blood tests check out normal except for high cholestrol.  He wants to put me on anti- inflammatories to see if that helps.  He seems really concerned. Is this serious??

this is not thyroid related, but a sed rate of 60 is high -- this is a marker of inflammation and should be treated/evaluated.  Often a rheumatolgy consult is helpful to determine the cause and outline the best treatment.  With the shortness of breath, it may be best to determine the cause before considering empiric treatment.
