high calcium levels

I recently had my blood checked. My doctor said I had high calcium levels (11). Then I went for a scan on my parathyroids and everything came back perfect. What else could be the cause of this?

The calcium is high -- need to check parathyroid hormone levels -- if also high, then you have hyperparathyroidism -- the scan is "normal" at least 1/3 of the time....but the diagnosis is made on blood test. Often a good neck ultrasound will find the parathyroid adenoma when the nuclear scan does not....
