hypothyroid/synthroid

Hi,
I have Hashimotos Syndrome.  I was told by others that synthroid is best taken under the tongue, that you get more out of it that way.  Is there any truth to that?
Thanks

No, it is best to take it by mouth (ie, swallow the pill whole) first thing in the morning 30-60 min before breakfast OR to take it at bedtime at least 2h after dinner.  The key is to be consistent.

I have not seen reliable published data on under the tongue administration.

I am a 38 y.o. female who was told I should take a low dose synthroid of 25mcg x 6wks because my T4 was 0.7 and my TSH was 0.86 and my prolactin level was 22.7. I have always had some secretions from my breast when expressed since I was18y.o. and my labs were normal then.Should Itake meds. I am asymtomatic as well. Need a second opinion. Thanks.

ask your question again to the doctor - as a new question. I think he will not answer it this way - as the dr. already answered the question that you posted too. Good luck!
