my son was diagnosed with hypothyroid,he is now 15 months old ,my sons been taking synthroid since birth but he is resisting it,the doctors telling me his brain is not getting enough but his blood shows he getting way to much med, they dont understand why they have done many tests genetic testing and every thing has came back ok,so he decided to up the dose of his medication from .25 mcg to .44 mcg now my son has a hard time sleeping stays up till 1 am and when he finally does go to sleep he awakens every hour,do you think him having a hard time sleeping is due to the medication synthroid he is taking?and is there anything the doctors can prescribe to help him sleep ? also he breaks out in sweats ocassionally in the evening time and starts doing odd things like shaking his head no,and is somewhat dazed and dosent respond at times, but during the day he is completely normal.my son also goes to physical therapy he is a lot slower in development than other children his age ,does this hypothyroid cause a developmental delay, all the doctors tell me is as long as he takes his med he will be ok,also when i asked the doctor if he has a glands or is it to small they tell me it dosent matter they treat the cases the same way,is this true or should they let me know.i am just worried the doctors are not telling me everything i need to know about this

Would work with a pediatric endocrinologist to make sure this is the best medication dose for him -- too much thyroid meds can cause sleeping problems, but adequate replacement is important to growth/development.  There is not another medication option other than levothyroxine.
