levoxyl side effects?

by elisablowt, Apr 02, 2006 12:00AM
I have had my thyroid removed one week ago. I was put on Levoxyl 88 mcg. Since then I have been very dizzy and lightheaded. I also have heart palpitations or pounding. My doctor had me half the dosage to 44 mcg but I still feel the same. Nobody believes that it is the medication but it started as soon as I took it. I have not read dizziness as a side effect but could it be anyway?

Thanks!

Elisabeth

Could be -- may take a few weeks or more to adjust after thyroid surgery.  Also test calcium levels as these can be low after thyroid surgery.  May need to hold the levoxyl for a few days then restart the 44mcg dose and take it one day at a time for a while.

I took Levoxyl for 1 month (25 mcg) and suddenly the side effects of extremet faituge, insomnia, shortness of breadth, swelling of both legs and abdomen started to appear.  I stopped taking Levoxyl for six weeks now.  The side effects of swelling of legs, insomnia and abdomen are still here.

How long will the side effect last ?

What was your experience ?

Thank you so much .

Ann
