selenium and aspirin therapy for thy antibodies/conception

by maribodm, Jun 23, 2009 02:01PM
Hi,
I am Hashis and trying to conceive.  The Doctor spoke of aspirin therapy in one post and Selenium supplementation both to help with conception and possibly prevent miscarriage.  Can he tell me more about this?  How much to take each day, etc..,
Thank You,
Marie

The aspirin therapy would not be specific to Hashi and I have no experience with this recommendation -- would ask your OB.

The selenium has been looked at and may be helpful, but more studies are needed before we suggest it to all women in this setting.  However a dose of 100-200mcg / day is not likely to be harmful and may help.

Levothyroxine therapy with a target TSH of 0.3-2.0 is the mainstay of Hashi treatment in this setting.
