Yes, but I believe the shortness of breath and heart flutters are from the thyroid, not the synthroid. I stopped having the flutters once my levels are a little more in line. I still have the shortness of breath, but I have just stopped smoking today, because it has been unbearable. Hopefully this will help.

Hi, I too, have the heart palpitaions along with shortness of breath, I agree, that it is related to the thyroid disease, and not so much the medications, although sometimes, it is an indicator that your dose may be off, if you haven't had your levels checked in awhile, maybe it's time, maybye your dose needs to be modified.  Hope this helps Shannon

I was on 50 mcg's of synthroid for about a year with the heart and breath sympyoms along some days worse than others. Then I went to see a specialist who redid my blood work and my numbers were 3.75 and she said she was going to increase my dosage to 75mcg because she wanted to get my numbers down around 2.25, and I have been on this for about a month. the irregular heart beat and the shortness of breath are almost daily I emphasize, almost dailey.

Hi, closer you get your TSH to 1.0, the better you will feel.  I'm sorry, maybe the increase to 75mcg will eventually lower your number, but 50mcg isn't doing it.  They say that 6 weeks for each dose is how long you should wait to see how you are feeling, but I have found when I feel so terrible, and they change my dose, I can almost tell immediatley.  Maybe they will find they will have to increase it some more.  They did this same thing with me, and started real low with 50mcg and in a matter of a couple months I was up to 100mcg, until I was able to find some relief of my symptoms.  Hope this helps.  Yes 2.25 is a good level, but I think you will notice again, the closer you get to 1.0 or below, the better you will feel.  Good luck Shannon

I have read a lot of postings recently, and I have noticed quite a bit of mention about meds being adjusted. I have one question, Does a underactive thyroid problem ever stabilize ?
