Hashi is autoimmune and is genetic predisposed. Autoimmune can lay dormant for years until something triggers it to the surface. The triggers could be mental or physical stress, illness, injuries, environmental/and endogenous such as bacterial and viral infections, cytokine therapy, pregnancy, Silicone/Parafin breast implants and other health conditions. There has been writings regarding studies declaring TCE causing Hashi, Graves' and other thyroid disorders, not to mention unrelated cancer. However, TCE would be a trigger more than cause, with genetic factor being the actual cause.
