thyroid and sarcoidosis

by davemax, Feb 05, 2008 12:53PM
I am a 44 yr.old female who was diagnosed with sarcoidosis last year. It was in my lungs, imflammation, nodes, etc.    I have been off prednisone for 4 months, no EN, no more cough.  My doctor said my chest xray looked good (previously had a cat scan).   I went for my regular physical with my regular doctor and my liver enzymes were up; ast 60 alt 40 alkaline phosphate 128, these wer high last year as well.  My doctor says my liver enzymes were always kind of high, even before being diagnosed with sarcoid.           Now my doc wants me on synthroid for this and my triglycerides went up to 240?       Is the sarcoid still in my body, perhaps in my liver, causing the high enzymes, low thyroid, etc...

Thank you.

I did not see any thyroid labs in the post.  Sarcoid is a rare cause of hypothyroidism.  It can also infiltrate the liver.  However fatty liver can cause same lab problems and is associated with high triglycerides.

What should I look for in my labs for thryoid?   do you know what could cause the fatty liver?  could it be the sarcoid?
