i have found out that my thyroid was bad about 8 mon ago my level was 62.5 believe it or not they put me on 125 mcg of med and it went down to .26 they changed it to 150 mcg and sent me to get a ultrasound on my neck they found that i have nodules on the thyroid and sent me to a endo specialist he said my meds were way to high for my age (30) and said the nodules were to small in size for them to be cancerous and not to worry about it that was about 4 months ago and he has changed my meds every month since then i went yesterday and he said my levels were4.9 still to high but i feel worse now then i did when they were higher i have no energy am depressed gaining weight like crazy and my periods are all messed up but he still wants to drop me to a 3 i dont think i should be that low what do you think wouldnt i get even more tired and depressed the lower the number and what about the nodules should i just blow them off and not worry maybe i should go see another doctor but im afraid he wont see me again and hes the only one in the area that takes care of that the next one is 3 hrs away

For the hypothyroid treatment, the correct dose is the one that normalizes TSH to the 0.5-2.5 range -- this may be 50mcg for some, 300mcg for others -- it is not age dependent.  Talk with your doctor about the TSH goal and medication dose.

Small nodules usually can be observed with follow-up ultrasound in 6 months to see if they are larger -- in which case, may require FNA biopsy.
